Oh, who cares if you needed to get a workout in today. This is cozy! Hmm… warm cinnamon bread, no, fresh hot doughnuts… or… yes, sweet apple pie! Are you feeling the love yet? You’re feeling lazy now; ahah! Give yourself a treat: life is about living NOW! So, I entreat you to enjoy!

Whack Away… Come on, HARDER!

So, I refined the discovery of my latest workout addition and am loving it thus far. Exercising the body and getting full use of all your muscles sure does feel good. And in keeping with my grand plan to care for your body- your temple. Keeps your energy levels higher and your mood better. But, before I am run away with just how great exercise is, let me just go on with my original thought. The tire/sledgehammer workout! Alot of you may already incorporate this into your workout routines, but if not, I recommend it. Hey, it can even be a little fun- while maybe even relieving some stress through those hard whacks! Now, please don’t go out and try this if you’re not already an active person, for you could definitely hurt yourself. But, it’s another great workout that doesn’t require a gym or fancy equipment. Making use of everything at your disposal if you don’t have the fancy equipment and a gym is great work for the mind too. Get creative. Carry a chair when you do lunges. Throw down a deflated basketball as hard as you can. And it won’t bounce back into your face! So anyway, all you need is a tire and a sledgehammer to achieve some good overall strength training. Plus, don’t just use your arms and hands to do all of the work, get your whole body into the motion. Use your abs, your legs. Stay loose, get a good rhythm going and whack away. (Again, please don’t go out and try this if you’re not used to intermediate physical activity.) Phew, now didn’t that feel good?!

Add A Little Education

So, I know school is not necessarily something alot of people like to do, but then again there are those that do. Whether you’re the former or latter, I’ve got a suggestion for those of you who aren’t in school. Take some time to go online and find a few educational games to play now and then, enhancing that knowledge you once learned. I found that even though I felt like alot of what I’d learned in school was lost to me over the time since I did the lessons, some of it is still there in the back of my mind, it just hasn’t been used. I dusted it off and got started on some games requiring that knowledge and it was actually kind of fun to see what I did remember- and what I began to learn. Plus, I felt good about putting some great production into my time. But, even beyond the good of refreshing your mind on things like arithmetic and geography- which can be useful in daily life- these games will stimulate your brain, keeping it active and alert. And that is a great thing, indeed! I think it’s extremely important for us to take care of our bodies; for each of us it is our temple. And a great many people do that physically, to be sure, but let us not forget that it’s also important to care for our brains too. So, get those workouts in- because that’s good for the brain too- and get some education in your life even if you’re not in school. Learn from your children by taking the time to talk to them and let them teach you from what they’re learning at their school. Hey, what good parent doesn’t want more time with their children?! Listen when people explain something to you; you might like learning about it. And we all know how much you can find on the internet, right? Well, there are lots of educational games too! Come on, learn, live, explore!

Just little ‘better’ choices

Hey, next time you’re out and want a treat like ice cream, go for some frozen yogurt. As far as taste, it doesn’t leave you desiring anything more. And it’s slightly healthier than ice cream. Okay, I’m not going off saying it’s ‘healthy’ but it’s healthier than some other treats you could get. Remember, every little smart choice you make adds up to a lot of great choices; just keep it in mind when you’re craving sweet treats. And enjoy!

So, I just had this thought about racquetball. And wanted to know where it started. The history isn’t riveting or unusual, but here’s to Joe Sobek, who is credited with the founding of racquetball, a fun game to play providing some great cardio workouts and stretching exercises too. Go have a laughable- or competitive- free-for-all in the racquetball courts- or boxes, as I like to dub them! I guarantee you’ll feel good from it.

WATCH THE BALL!

Watch the ball. That is really the point. Ninety percent of sports and games played with a ball- no matter what kind- is watching that ball. You may need some skills to surround the ball play, but that is about a tenth of the whole concentration. Your mind can tell your body how to coordinate itself for the movement required to contact said ball in order to manipulate it to perform what you want- as long as you watch the ball. Yes, you need to practice your skills for whatever game or sport you are playing and concentrate on those skills. However, you also have to stop thinking so hard about your skills and ensuring that you are performing them correctly because that will cause you to stop watching the ball as well. Concentrate and practice your skills, then let your mind free to WATCH THE BALL! Say you’re trying to play tennis, think yellow! Say you’re trying to catch a football, don’t be scared and don’t take your eye off of that ball! Say you’re trying to hit a golf ball, focus on that white spec at your feet. You can hit that ball. You can throw that ball. Anywhere you want it to go! So, go play some sports and games with a ball; and watch the ball! Oh, and you know what else? Watching the ball is great exercise for the mind to stay active. And keeping the mind active is just as important as keeping the body active. Get out there and get some fun in!

Help and Enjoy the Holidays

Alright, the weather’s cold, the oven’s full of baked goods, the kitchen’s a bustle with joy and people are feeling that holiday aura coming on. Once Thanksgiving hits, it’s all a quick slope to the end of the year. But, make the most of it! Don’t let it go by you too fast! How come food, especially around this time of the year, can make everything seem okay? A fresh cookie still hot from the oven, a rum ball aged over a week to bring out the real flavor or a rich truffle that just melts in your mouth. But, I know that there are plenty of people in the world who aren’t that fortunate; they don’t know what it feels like to sit cozily in a warm house by the fire with a cup of cocoa and a piece of pumpkin spice cake. I hope that through a little help here and there by each of us, we can make the number of those people alot smaller this year. Do your part to give when you have a chance, please. And enjoy your holidays with those you dearly love! Eat alot of great food!

A Bible Verse

Good day, good day. I sat down. I realized I needed some godly perspective. I opened the Bible. I love when the Word just jumps out at me. Like this verse did today. Lamentations 3:22-23 says “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every mornig; great is your faithfulness.” How wonderful to know He gives us a fresh beginning every single day we begin. Not a morning passes He doesn’t offer his compassion to us. Not a morning passes you can’t forget about the troubles and problems and drama of yesterday; and, with God’s help, make the new day nothing but goodness. This I share in hopes you will find comfort like I did. Have a good one!

M.L. & Miguel- Next Letter

Good day to you my Friend,

First to state, I am obliged to assure you that my latest feelings are of more joy than my previous; for, I find myself perched comfortably on my own beach house back porch steps spreading my view to the ocean as my mind is filled with fresh hope for my future here. Yesterday I signed the remaining paperwork, received the key, and drove along Ellender Lane to the house’s gravel drive leading me up to its beautiful perch alongside the blue waters while my eyes stared with excitement. Adaire still fails to leave my mind all at once despite this new adventure, but I am aware of the time healing takes and am willing to be patient. For the present, my heart is grateful to call this my new home. You are assuredly the first person I desire to see this beautiful white beach house; thus, I endeavor to “show” it if my yet still weary mind is able to do it justice in words to display a picture upon your eyes. My friend, this place is a sight of freshness: the blue shutters dot the many windows of the white house while the standing-seam tin roof protects atop with prominence. There wraps a porch around the entirety of the house providing plenty of perfect spots for sitting and reviving your mind as you take in the beauty of the surroundings, whether it be the inviting front drive to the house or the sands leading to the ocean on the rear or the trees on the left side. My first duty in the decoration stood to purchase two chairs for the porch. I apologize for the slight delay in replying as I remained busy these past few days gathering all of this to order. Now that I am home, I am free to decorate and settle at my pace. My dear friend, you remain so kind and sweet upon me in my heartache; I am so thankful; for, it is much needed. I am presently taken with my new house, but there remains plenty of hurt yet residing within my heart. I find part of me wishing her to be with me on this new adventure, sharing the home; but, my mind is smarter than that and I pray there exists a better woman for me to share life with someday. My patience remains. And my heart remains lifted by your love; oh, it tends to plummet upon thoughts of mine wishing to hold her again, to know her as mine, yet, realizing I cannot have her. Well, my dearest friend, I pray that a wonderful day surrounds you and that your heart is light with joy. Your previous letter sent a smile to my face at your joyous curiosity you never fail in providing me with! I must point to your last question, which intrigued me so; for, who ‘they’ are, I am at a loss just the same. You present an excellent point. My mind and knowledge cannot answer with anything worthy enough to add. I forever hold such great support of your individual wonderment. During these upcoming winter months, I trust you will warm me with your gentle and fun letters while I will endeavor to do the same for you. September is only beginning, but such a month always signals the holidays and a season full of lazy evenings with a cup of hot cocoa in hand. Such may seem a rather strange period to move onto the beach upon some minds; but, prices hover lower at present than the heighth they reach in summer’s peak. And my heart longs to abuse this lonely time in order to heal so that I may take the spring and summer by every energy I have to enjoy it. To this morning, I bid goodbye; it is just past noon. Unpacking and decoration decisions knock at me as if they caught wind of my contagious anxious energy building at every thought to the future and your ever-nearing visit to my new home. I must leave you now, my dear dear friend, with hopes in you finding fresh curiosity with life.
