M.L. & Miguel- Next Letter
Dear Miguel,
Thank you for your dear wishes upon me and my waters; I am presently sitting beneath a large shade tree with my eyes fixed on the flowing river before me and this letter to you, my friend. This beauty is unexplainable. Oh, but, surely you and your intellect of words could do it justice on paper where I fail to produce. Ah, but there resides just at the river’s edge here at the moment a herd- oh, there must be a more fitting term, yet I am unaware what it might be so we will go with it- of ducks riding the water’s surface in graceful form. However, a curiosity remains for me. These white ducks each have a small tuft atop their heads, turning their appearance into one of a duck wearing a hat. And no ordinary hat, I shall point. No, more like a fashion hat. My goodness, I have fashionable ducks in front of me! My mind wonders if there might be a species of duck holding such characteristic or perhaps it is merely a gene combination unlike any before, allowing these fashionable ducks to be born. It is quite a sight; how I wish you were present to see them! Oh, my dear Miguel, upon my word, I am having the most wonderful day. When I went to my favorite little coffee shop I frequent so often that the employees always call me by name, I ventured to try their latest flavor, which tasted quite so delicious that I will no doubt order again, and after being seated with my cup for a minute or two was joined by an older man who sat in the next chair to me. His disposition was charming as he remarked on the sunny day before us and told me how joyfully happy he was to be a new grandfather; for, his daughter had given birth to his granddaughter just the day before. He told me how priceless it had been to see the joy on his son-in-law’s face upon holding his new baby girl in his hands. Gosh, he was a proud grandfather! Anyway, I must send my regards to you and your emotions. I care so deeply for your happiness, which you so deserve. However, since you have asked, I also must answer to your request for an impression on said lovely Adaire- and oh, to your other question, I answer a no. I have thus failed with men and have not yet found another to try. So, we shall discuss your latest attraction to the opposite sex. To my mind- though without personal acquaintance- she would seem a strong woman. Yet, I see her seeming strength a guard to her gentle and broken heart and a cover to her fear of commitment. I dare venture to suggest that she is alone in this world, which keeps her in fear of being alone as well; yet, that is but a mere coal among the fire burning with fear of hurt as she once felt that would result from a serious attachment now. I dare say that she may not prove to be worthy of your extraordinarily beautiful affections. Goodness, I will halt now as I have become run away with ideas. I hope that you take this into consideration, but judge on your own count; for, I am merely suggesting my impression, which is hardly based on anything substantial. You are forever so good to me in giving my opinion worth that I am forever grateful and willing to provide it as I admit it has proven helpful to you, my dear Miguel, in past occurrences. Yet, I almost wish I had a better impression of Adaire to give as I can sense your rapid growth of infatuation toward her and pray it will not lead to disappointment. Do write soon and tell me your latest affections. You remain in my thoughts and care though I have to close my letter now to run to buy a few items at the store and finish a project. Quickly before I leave I want to send my appreciation for the salty answer; how that confused me! Whatever would I do without you? Do take care and have a lovely day.
Your Friend,
M.L.
