Value That’s Lacking

Now, I’ve been exposed to more laziness and lack of hard work recently than ever before. And let me tell you, it’s disturbing. I’ve known for awhile that this was a fact of our world these days that people seem to be lazier than ever before. Yet, now I understand it even that much better. Let’s put this into a job setting. You have a job, you have responsibility, you’re earning money for your work, and you have a duty to perform to your uttmost ability. Now how come so many people cannot seem to grasp that last part- to your uttmost ability? With a job, I think, you are required to work your hardest and best at all times. It does not mean to try to get out of your duty; push it off onto another coworker; or take the time when you don’t have a task to perform, and chill. To me, should you have down time in a job, you should look for something more to do. Don’t just stop and wait for someone to inform you of the next task. No! Go find something that needs to be done and do it on your own. You shouldn’t have to be told of every little thing to do. Another note I’d like to add while on the subject is people’s attitude while working- especially on a job. Sure, you aren’t going to enjoy it all the time and the things required of you. But, remember, it’s a job. It’s not supposed to be fun, people! That is why you are being paid for your work. People should do their work with a willing attitude, even when they don’t necessarily want to. Again, why can’t people grasp this and work by it? Well, I think I can answer that- and venture a little farther off the subject. Sure, to me, it’s the parents of these people who don’t discipline their children when they are young. The parents are the culprits. They do not teach their children the meaning of discipline, hard work, and doing your best with a willing attitude even when you don’t like the task. This simple value is terribly important, yet lacking more than it should in this world. For this reason, when I see or meet someone who works hard, does more than he’s asked in order to perform his job better, and acts responsible doing it, I appreciate him heartily. People like I have just described are too few and far between. In ending, I would just like to say that I know there are hard workers out there- I appreciate you- but I also know there are lazy bums who do not care about their work- I have a hard time respecting you.
